It doesn't take much to make a scene in New York City. All you need is five of the most beautiful women in show business, a couple of the hottest-selling country and pop artists in the nation, a complete makeover of Roseland Ballroom featuring women dancing in their bras, complimentary shots of booze, and classic hard rock tunes and - voila - the paparazzi are all over the event like pigs in a blanket.

We're of course referring to last night's (July 31) premiere and opening party for the latest film from producer Jerry Bruckheimer (Top Gun, Flashdance, American Gigolo), Coyote Ugly. The movie features a platoon of talented ... um, models or, er ... actresses such as Tyra Banks, Piper Perabo, Bridget Moynahan, Maria Bello, and Melanie Lynskey, whose characters try to earn a living the old-fashioned way: shaking their booty on top of a bar. Other actors in the movie, directed by David McNally, include John Goodman and Adam Garcia, who incidentally both shake their booty atop the aforementioned bar.

Country singer LeAnn Rimes recorded several Diane Warren-penned songs featured both in the film and on the soundtrack to the movie, which comes out today, August 1. The film itself revolves around a young songwriter named Violet Sanford (played by Perabo) who is trying to launch her music career in New York City while fighting both stage-fright and the pressures of the big city. In all the singing scenes Sanford lip-synchs to Rimes voice which is used throughout the film. Rimes also makes a cameo in the film during which she duets with Perabo, but, if you think about it, the country star is actually just duetting with herself.

At the premiere party Rimes made an impromptu appearance atop the makeshift bar and performed the album's first single, "Can't Fight the Moonlight," with her scantily clad co-stars and dancers in tow. Reportedly Rimes had originally wanted to sing an Aerosmith song, but, alas, the DJ didn't have the record she requested. Rimes herself, who is only 17 years old, was sporting leather pants and a skimpy top and in all likelihood, even with a fake ID, would never have been allowed inside any NYC bar.

Also spotted at the party were none other than three members of 'N Sync, who proved once and for all that, contrary to what we all think, they really don't have any strings attached. Justin Timberlake was seen chatting up Rimes, while the ever-smooth and slightly chunky Joey Fatone spent a good deal of time schmoozing Bridget Moynahan. Meanwhile, Lance Bass seemed to spend a lot of time with his bodyguard. Also in attendance was Yankees left fielder David Justice, MTV newscaster Serena Altschul, NY1 movie reviewer Neil Rosen, and Chris Melloni, who plays Chris Keller on HBO's Oz.

The soundtrack to Coyote Ugly is released today on Curb Records. In addition to the four tracks by Rimes, the album includes previously released songs by Don Henley, EMF, INXS, and the Charlie Daniels Band.
