Courtney Love - isn't she great? Okay, now hold that answer while you read this next news story. Because Love was invited to Sunday's 57th Annual Golden Globes Awards to present the award for Best Original Song from a Motion Picture. Love being Love, however, merely presenting was far too easy.

The volatile Love took the stage of the Beverly Hilton Hotel wearing a dress that looked like a garbage bag on the losing end of a fight with a lawnmower. Before anybody could tell her the WWF's Royal Rumble was taking place in New York, the singer began warbling R.E.M.'s "The Great Beyond." It's an original song - but not the best - from the motion picture Man on the Moon, in which Jim Carrey and Love star.

The award went to Phil Collins for his form-returning song "You'll Be in My Heart" from the animated film Tarzan. But nowadays you have to do more than just write and perform a chart-topping adult contemporary hit to pick off your award. You also have to pry it away from Kurt Cobain's widow.

Love refused to give Collins the prize, demanding he "...say please." Collins merely replied, "You can have it. I just know I've got it." You don't survive 25 years in Genesis without learning a thing or too. She eventually handed it over, and took some solace when Jim Carrey won for Best Actor in a Comedy for his performance as Andy Kaufman.

Collins then blew his credibility by thanking his dog Jack and barking at him during the course of his acceptance speech. If you're interested in who else won a Golden Globe, here they are with the animal they are most likely to impersonate in parentheses.
