Fresh from her acclaimed performances in the movie "Dancer in the Dark" and on its accompanying Selmasongs EP, Björk is scheduled to release a new album, tentatively titled Domestika, in May.
The album's sound is expected to be "grown-up and distinguished," a spokesperson for the singer's U.K. management company said, with a full orchestra appearing on some tracks.
Björk, who is producing the LP herself, had lyrical help from some unexpected collaborators; filmmaker Harmony Korine ("Kids," "Gummo") penned lyrics for a song called "Harm of Will," while the singer based another track on a poem by the late American poet e.e. cummings.
The performer plans to follow the album's release with a brief series of live dates, including two U.S. performances one in Los Angeles and another in New York according to her label, Elektra Records.
Nine tracks for the LP have been completed, with recording sessions taking place in New York and in Björk's native Iceland. The singer/songwriter recently received two Golden Globe nominations for her "Dancer in the Dark" efforts: her performance in "Dancer in the Dark" earned her a nod in the Best Actress category, while the soundtrack's "I've Seen It All" was nominated for Best Original Song. Winners will be announced during a January 21 ceremony (see "Bjork, 'Almost Famous' Nominated For Golden Globes").
Björk 's last full-length album was 1997's Homogenic. She released the seven-track Selmasongs: Music From The Motion Picture 'Dancer in the Dark' in September.
