U2 Gave a surprise performance on Tuesday in Belfast, Northern Ireland, at a free concert promoting this weekend's elections for Northern Ireland's first democratic government.
During the show, which also included a set by the Irish alterna-punk band Ash, Bono brought out the two leaders that recently negotiated a historic peace agreement, Protestant David Trimble and Catholic John Hume.
In addition to performing its own suitably-themed song, "One," U2 and Ash performed a handful of covers, including versions of John Lennon's "Give Peace a Chance" and another tune which Lennon sang with the Beatles, "Don't Let Me Down" [1MB QuickTime].
U2 recently finished its world tour, while Ash is headed back into the studio to wrap up work on its new album, due out September 8.
