Third Eye Blind singer Stephan Jenkins took it upon himself to help provide for the contraceptive needs of the students of Siena College last Saturday in Loudonville, New York by distributing 500 condoms to his fans during an MTV Campus Invasion show.
A spokesperson for the collegiate tour says that Jenkins, being a socially conscious person, checks in on the LifeBeat sexual health tent in the MTV village on occasion, which is one of five tents set up around the performance stage. When he found out that school officials had stopped the distribution of these contraceptives at the Catholic university, he took it upon himself to further LifeBeat's work by taking all of the condoms usually given out at the tent and handing them out himself. During the groups' song "Narcolepsy," their second of the night, he threw them out into the crowd while telling students that they should have better access to them. The group's next stop on the Campus Invasion tour with Eve 6 is at Harrisonburg, Virginia's James Madison University on Monday. The MTV Campus Invasion tour runs through the beginning of December.
