Life is good for Static-X.
After watching its debut album slowly gain momentum on the charts over the last seven months (due largely to non-stop touring), the band is sitting in a plum slot on Megadeth's tour and recently saw its first video, "Push It," deemed "Buzzworthy" by MTV. The band also currently sees itself helping to breathe new life into a genre that many critics administered last rites to long ago. Along with Coal Chamber, Fear Factory, System Of A Down, and other experimentalists, the new wave is helping to push the seemingly narrow boundaries of metal into bold new directions. For its part in the revolution, Static-X is melding its riffs with dance-friendly industrial elements most often associated with Ministry and White Zombie, and keeping the metal flame alive in the process. "Metal's definitely never going to go away," frontman Wayne Static declared to MTV News. "There just needed to be a new breed," drummer Ken Jay added. "It went away at a good time, because it was getting really cheesy and the bands that were good at that point stayed. They're still around. The bands that weren't good, you know, those guys went on to do other things."
