Hoping to build on the "Buzzworthy" start the group found with its video for "Push It," self-proclaimed disco death metal mongers Static-X recently shot the second video from their debut album.
The band hooked up with director David Meyers (Kid Rock, Master P, Filter, Powerman 5000) in Los Angeles last weekend to shoot a video for "I'm With Stupid," the third single (but only the second video) from the band's 1999 debut "Wisconsin Death Trip." Static-X's record label, Warner Bros., notes that the band turned one L.A. venue into an "evil disco" for Saturday's shoot before heading to a wooded area of Griffith Park to shoot on Sunday. On the set, the group was joined by members of its fan club (who served as extras) as well as the Static Man introduced in the band's "Push It" video. In the new video, the group's mascot does battle with the "shovel lady," a character sampled on "I'm With Stupid." Warner Bros. expects the new single to hit radio in late March and the video to surface at roughly the same time. Static-X will kick off a tour with fellow dance metal purveyors Powerman 5000 on January 28 in Seattle and plans to mount its own headlining tour after the PM5K stint wraps up in early March. The group will also turn up on the upcoming soundtrack to "Scream 3," as the band kicks in a new track called "So Real" (see "Godsmack, System Of A Down, Staind, Orgy, Others Sign On For 'Scream 3'").
