Mel G. (the artist often known as Scary Spice) has split from her husband of more than a year, Jimmy Gulzar, according to reports out of the British press.

London's "Daily Mail" reports that Mel G. and Gulzar have finally decided to split after spending the holidays with their ten-month-old daughter, Phoenix. The "Daily Mail" reports that the couple's time together was tumultuous at best and that the two separated after an argument on New Year's Eve.

Earlier this year, the British press also carried reports of trouble for the couple, claiming that the two were living in separate quarters in their home (see "Spice Girl Mel G. Faces Reports Of Marital Woes"). At the time, a U.S. spokesperson for the Spice Girls told MTV News that the reports were "not true, at the moment."

Mel G. was Mel B. before marrying Gulzar in September of 1998. The Spice Girl sparked her romance with the Dutch dancer when Gulzar was on the road with the group.
