Jan. 9 [16:00 EST] -- Citing concerns about possible moshing injury-related lawsuits, the University of California at Irvine has scrapped a scheduled January 18 concert by Social Distortion.

Social D claims that it has played UC Irvine five times over the past decade without incident. The school is apparently still smarting from an unrelated $40,000 judgment it once had to pay after a teenager sustained moshing injuries at a Public Image Ltd. concert on campus.

Instead of UC Irvine's Crawford Hall, Social D will now play the Ventura Theater on January 18.
