Roni Size, the drum n' bass auteur whose hip hop influences have earned him critical acclaim, believes that the two styles have a lot more in common than they might seem.
Size, who has worked with Redman on a track for the rapper's new album due out in the fall, is one of the musicians featured on a new compilation, "Here Come The Drums: Hip Hop Drum N' Bass," that explores the close connection between the two genres.
The MTV Radio Network talked with Size recently about the need to further strengthen the bond by increasing the number of collaborations between hip hop and drum n' bass artists.
"I think once we start sitting down and working with people not as jungle or as hip hop," Size said, "but as music... I think when we start meeting in the middle rather than me coming over to do something with a hip hop artist... it'll work out. Someone trying to put hip hop on jungle or jungle on hip hop, I don't think that's how it should work."
