With Silverchair preparing to release its third album, "Neon Ballroom," in the early spring, the Aussie trio will be heading to Sydney this weekend to shoot the video for its new single, the millennium-minded "Anthem for the Year 2000."
Performance footage for the video will be shot on January 23 at the Martin Place Amphitheater by director Gavin Bowden, a veteran of clips such as "No Shelter" for Rage Against the Machine, "Warped" for the Red Hot Chili Peppers and "Lakini's Juice" for Live.
Silverchair has also announced that the addition of a touring member to its ranks, as keyboardist Sam Holloway, who previously played in the Australian band Cordrazine, has joined the line-up. Silverchair will be bringing Holloway on the road next month for a handful of shows outside of its homeland during which Silverchair plans to preview new material from its forthcoming album.
The three-date mini-tour has Silverchair playing the Electric Ballroom in London on February 8, the Bowery Ballroom in New York on February 16 and the House of Blues in New Orleans on February 23.
In related news, Silverchair plans to premiere the "Anthem for the Year 2000" single on its official website (www.chairpage.com) on January 29, while the "Neon Ballroom" album is due in stores on March 2.
