Last month, singer-songwriter Duncan Sheik visited Kosovar refugee children at several camps in Albania with Tom Ehr, Executive Director of War Child U.S.A., a not-for-profit organization that helps children suffering in war-ravaged countries.

Sheik brought along five guitars and as many small percussive instruments as he could carry and hooked up with popular Albanian folksinger Aldin to play mini-concerts for kids in camps around Tirana and near the Yugoslavian border.

As Sheik told MTV News on Tuesday, he hopes one day he has the chance to work with kids from both sides of the long-running religious and cultural conflict in the Balkans.

"The other cool thing about playing these little concerts is that these Kosovar kids now have a sense that there are Americans out there who really care about them," Sheik said, "and it would be even more powerful if they knew that there were Serbians that cared about them." [RealVideo]
