Emo-core faves The Promise Ring have postponed their European tour following vocalist and guitarist Davey vonBohlen's successful surgery last week to remove a non-cancerous brain tumor.

The singer has long suffered severe headaches, and representatives for the band said that a recent MRI revealed that the musician had developed meningioma, a benign tumor, in the outer covering of his brain. Doctors noted that the tumor had grown to roughly the size of a fist, but felt it was in an operable area.

The tumor was successfully removed early last week, and the musician continues to recuperate under a doctor's care at Milwaukee's Froedert Hospital. Doctors are optimistic that vonBohlen should complete his recovery in four to six weeks.

Fans and well-wishers are encouraged to send cards, letters, and messages to vonBohlen at:

Davey vonBohlen 5(five) SW Froedert Hospital 9200 Wisconsin Ave. Milwaukee, WI 53226

As for the band, The Promise Ring has put its European tour plans (as well as all its plans for the immediate future) on hold to give vonBohlen time to recuperate.
