After singer/guitarist Davey vonBohlen's health forced the band to leave its tour with Bad Religion, emo-core outfit the Promise Ring have canceled another string of dates for similar reasons.
The band has postponed a week's worth of dates set for December, due to health issues related to vonBohlen's recent battle with a brain tumor, according to the band's publicist, Jessica Hopper.
Hopper said vonBohlen has been urged not to exert himself in the coming weeks, putting an end to the band's plans to play shows in the east and Midwest.
The Promise Ring still hope to play a Christmas show in Milwaukee slated for December 9, and they expect to reschedule the shows next year, the band's rep said.
"They really want to let Davey recuperate and get back on the road," Hopper said, noting that this marks the third time this year the band has had to cancel shows.
Last month, the band cut short its stint with Bad Religion by one week, when vonBohlen returned home to consult with doctors (see "Promise Ring Pull Out Of Bad Religion Tour").
Before his surgery in May, vonBohlen long had suffered severe headaches. An MRI earlier this year revealed that the musician had developed meningioma, a benign tumor, in the outer covering of his brain. The tumor was removed, but the operation forced the band to cancel its European tour (see "Promise Ring Singer Recovering From Brain Tumor").
