July 10 [16:00 EDT] -- Hot news for Electronica, the multifaceted techno-dance genre touted by many tastemakers as the next big musical thing: On Monday, Electronica reaches a commercial pinnacle, when the new album from The Prodigy, "The Fat of the Land," debuts on the Billboard pop chart at number one.

MTV News caught up with The Prodigy's Leeroy Thornhill, who is the group's interpretive dancer, when the Prodigy was in New York recently for a mini-tour. Thornhill marveled at the sudden emergence of the new genre.

"It's amazing because to us, before we came here, there's never been an electronica scene," Thornhill said. "It's something that the Americans have invented, which -- dance music, club music -- has been here for ages, anyway." [1.1 MB QuickTime]
