Somewhere in the alt-rock rulebook, it must be written that any package tour must at one point include Primus.

The San Francisco-area funk-rock gods have a long package-tour pedigree, having played on Lollapalooza, H.O.R.D.E., and Ozzfest outings in the past and toured with acts as diverse as Rush, Public Enemy, U2, and Anthrax. Now they've just signed on to join Limp Bizkit, Filter, DMX, System Of A Down, and the Method Man-Redman team on this year's Family Values tour.

The band will play the last half of the outing, October 13 in Minneapolis and wrapping up on October 31 in Biloxi, Mississippi. For a full list of Family Values dates and venues, see "Family Values Tour Announces Itinerary."

Meanwhile, Primus is preparing to release its next album, "Antipop," on October 19. As we previously reported, the album will feature a number of guest contributors, including Tom Waits, Tom Morello of Rage Against The Machine, Fred Durst, ex-Faith No More member Jim Martin, ex-Police-man Stewart Copeland, Metallica's James Hetfield, and "South Park" co-creator Matt Stone, among others (see "Primus Enlists Fred Durst, James Hetfield, Tom Morello, Others For New Album").
