Poi Dog Pondering found out about the reach of the Internet and the loyalty or their fans when they went to schedule a special unannounced performance in a Chicago nightclub for the benefit of AIDS. The only notification given for the show were postings on the band's official website, the club's website, and a notice on their mailing list. The sites included a special link to Ticketmaster Online to purchase the exclusive tickets.

According to "Pollstar" magazine's Gigs and Bytes column, all 1,100 seats were sold out within 24 hours. The show will take place May 7 at the Metro in Chicago.

Poi Dog Pondering are currently finishing up a new album, their first studio release since 1995's "Pomegranate." The first single, a cover of Ten City's "That's The Way Love Is," is scheduled for early May.

The band will play a couple of warm up shows on their own and then head out on the road with the Dave Matthews Band for dates in late May and early June.
