Twenty-years after the release of its groundbreaking debut, "Modern Dance," absurdist rock group Pere Ubu has returned with its eleventh studio album, "Pennsylvania," and plans to launch a tour in June.
Hailing from Cleveland, Pere Ubu rose out of a late '70s Ohio scene that also spawned Devo, and though "Modern Dance" sold less than 20,000 copies in the U.S., Ubu's sound was a major source of inspiration to a wave of postpunk bands, including R.E.M., Husker Du and the Pixies.
Pere Ubu will also use the summer outing to celebrate the Geffen reissue of "Modern Dance," which is scheduled to arrive in stores on June 2.
