Southern hip-hop gurus Outkast have linked up with old school pioneer and master yarn spinner Slick Rick for a remix of "Da Art of Storytellin' Part 1," a cut from the group's latest album, "Aquemini."
Rick joined Outkast onstage Wednesday night in New York City -- where the group wrapped up its month long tour -- to premiere the collaboration, and a video for the track featuring Outkast and Rick is already in the can.
"It was legendary," Outkast's Dre said of working with Slick Rick, "because he is the original storyteller, the great. So that was like real cool. He's like the coolest person I know, as far as like a rapper."
"Real polite," Big Boi added.
"And he's real cool," Dre continued, "and that's tight, so I can respect that."
"Laid back," [28.8 RealAudio] Boi concluded.
Rick's long-delayed comeback album, which includes guest spots from Snoop Dogg and Nas, looks like it will finally be released next spring. The rapper hasn't issued a solo album since 1994's "Behind Bars," a record he cut while in a prison work-release program.
