Well-known producer and remixer William Orbit is ready to release his upcoming solo album, "Pieces In A Modern Style," on Madonna's Maverick Records.

Orbit's name has grown increasingly high-profile in the U.S. recently, thanks to his production work on Madonna's Grammy Award-winning "Ray Of Light." Since then, he's also produced both her "Beautiful Stranger" single and her duet with Ricky Martin, "Cuidado Con Mi Corazon."

The Material Girl and Maverick honcho said in a statement, "William is a post modern 21st century genius in the world of music. This is only the beginning of William's brilliant career. He's a real visionary and it's an honor to have him with Maverick."

Orbit has logged time as a member of the group Torch Song and has also released four previous solo albums under the name Strange Cargo. His third Strange Cargo album featured a then-unknown Beth Orton, who since has gone on to a critically acclaimed solo career herself.

The album, which is due early next year, will feature Orbit's interpretations of works by classical composers such as Vivaldi, Handel, Ravel, and Beethoven. And that isn't the only project that Orbit has in the works; he's also working with Melanie "Sporty Spice" Chisholm on her upcoming solo debut album, "Northern Star."
