The upcoming star-studded tribute to Burt Bacharach will apparently go on with one fewer star.

The Oasis camp announced on Monday that Noel Gallagher, guitarist and creative cornerstone of that group, will not be able to join Ben Folds Five, Mike Myers, Elvis Costello and others at the April 8 tribute to the pop mainstay (who actually serenaded Myers and co-star Elizabeth Hurley in "Austin Powers").

The news first appeared on the band's official website (at www.oasisinet.com), and was confirmed by an Oasis spokesperson.

Gallagher had planned to perform Bacharach's hit "This Guy's In Love With You" at the concert (which will be televised on TNT on April 15), but a statement released by Oasis says that "rescheduled recording commitments" will make that appearance impossible. A spokesperson for Oasis would not discuss the nature of Noel's studio work or when or where it might turn up.

The site also says that Gallagher, who dueted with Bacharach himself on the song at a 1996 concert, "considered this a great honor is disappointed that he cannot repeat the performance."

The show, set for New York's Manhattan Center, will go on with the Pretenders' Chrissie Hynde doing "Baby It's You," Mike Myers belting out "What's New Pussycat?" and a few other surprises (see "Noel Gallagher, Ben Folds Five, Mike Myers To Sing Bacharach").
