June 16 [10:00 EDT] -- Treach and Vinnie of Naughty By Nature are reportedly free on bail after being arrested Thursday for illegal possession of a weapon and reckless driving.

Reuters news service reports that the Grammy-winning rappers each posted $1,000 bail on Friday, one day after police pulled the men over in Harlem.

Police reportedly say that the rappers were each driving Lexus Cruisers, and were each pulled over separately for reckless driving. Police told Reuters that when they searched the cars, they found loaded 9 mm pistols, and discovered that Treach (whose real name is Anthony Criss) was wearing a bulletproof vest (which is a crime in New York state).

Lawyers for Treach and Vinnie (real name Vincent Brown) told Reuters that the men carried weapons to protect themselves in the wake of recent death threats as well as the murders of Tupac Shakur and the Notorious B.I.G.

Treach and Vinnie are reportedly due back in court on July 16 for a hearing.
