July 2 [14:00 EDT] -- The concert trail got a bit more crowded on Wednesday when the third annual Vans Warped tour kicked off in San Diego.

In addition to the standard main stage/second stage set-up, the Warped tour also packs daredevil exhibitions by various skateboarders, rock climbers, BMX bikers, and in-line skaters, plus a "locals only" showcase at every stop.

Oh, and by the way, the Mighty Mighty Bosstones [Bosstones live, 600k QuickTime], Social Distortion, Descendants, Pennywise, Reel Big Fish, Sugar Ray, Sick Of It All [Sick Of It All and Sugar Ray live, 800k QuickTime], and the Vandals will be on hand as well. For the bands involved, the tour offers a chance to spend the summer with old and new friends: sort of like a punk summercamp.

"We're actually heading into the Warped Tour this summer and that's gonna be great. Talk about your camaraderie," head Bosstone Dicky Barrett told MTV News.

"The best thing about us is we get to play and then watch all the bands," [700k QuickTime] Sugar Ray vocalist Mark McGrath added.

After the San Diego launch, the Vans Warped tour moves on to Carson, California on Thursday.
