The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, a band that has built up its fanbase by years of relentless touring before breaking big last year with "Let's Face It", will release its first live record in September.
The album will be compiled from tracks recorded last December during a five-night stand at the Middle East Club in the band's Boston hometown.
The Bosstones, who have appeared at such festivals and benefits as Lollapalooza and the Tibetan Freedom Concert, will also prove that no potential audience is beyond its rock-ska madness by playing short stints on H.O.R.D.E. and the Warped Tour.
The bands will join H.O.R.D.E. on July 10 through 12 for shows in Milwaukee, Chicago and St. Louis prior to helping close out this year's Warped festival by performing at the last five shows, scheduled for August 4 through 6 at Jacksonville, Orlando and Miami in Florida, and then August 8 and 9 at Houston and Dallas, Texas.
The Bosstones have also written material for a new studio album during the last 14 months of touring, and plan to start work on that after sorting through tapes for the live record.
The band sat down with MTV News during last weekend's HFStival [800k QuickTime Live] in Washington, D.C., and joked about the kind of songs that it had prepared while on the road.
"Crap," said bassist Joe Gittleman.
"Really," continued vocalist Dicky Barrett, "Throwaway, disposable stuff. Happy stuff. Which eventually makes it on the Bosstones' records. (Laughs) You know what we do" [600k QuickTime].
