George Michael's lawyer is due in court on Tuesday, but the singer himself is not expected to be on hand for an arraignment in Beverly Hills Municipal Court on misdemeanor charges of committing a lewd act in a park restroom.

Michael, whose lawyer is a former Los Angeles District Attorney, could face up to six months in jail and a $1,000 fine. However, if found guilty of what would be a first offense, Michael would more likely be sentenced to probation.

As we first reported last month (see "UPDATE: George Michael Arrested On Charges Of 'Lewd' Behavior"), Michael was arrested in a men's restroom at Will Rogers Memorial Park in Beverly Hills and charged with "engaging in a lewd act." At the time of the arrest, the police would not discuss details of the case, saying only that no one was solicited by Michael.

The singer did not address the specifics of the incident either when he sat with CNN for an in-depth interview after the arrest, but he did tackle the topic calling the arrest, "humiliating, embarrassing, and funny to some degree" (see "George Michael Discusses Arrest, Sexuality With CNN").
