Metallica's camp has confirmed that Jason Newsted and Sepultura have collaborated on a track, entitled "Hatred Inside," which was recorded at the bassist's home studio in San Francisco last month.
Newsted, who has made no secret of his adoration for the hardcore Brazilian band, plays guitar and theremin on the track, which will be included on Sepultura's new album, "Against."
Due out in the fall, "Against" is the first Sepultura album to feature new vocalist Derrick Greene, who joined the band when original singer Max Cavalera acrimoniously left the group, and features appearances by Japanese and Brazilian drum ensembles (see "Sepultura Conjures Up New Vocalist").
