R&B singer Maxwell is trying to recapture the buzz his 1996 debut album conjured up with his recently released sophomore effort, "Embrya."
Maxwell's debut, "Urban Hang Suite," earned him comparisons to such legends of romantic soul as Marvin Gaye, but this time around, Maxwell adopted a new approach for "Embrya."
"It was funny because it was like my first album had this whole theme connected to it, like a beginning, a middle, and an end, and I felt like there was this need for me to kind of do that again," Maxwell told MTV News. "And you know, one day I just woke up and it was like, 'You know what, I don't even need to have a reason.'" [500k QuickTime]
Maxwell recently returned from Paris where he shot the video for "Luxury Coco Cure," the first single from "Embrya."
