If at first you don't succeed... Nine months after canceling a U.S. tour that was to have been promoted by Magic Johnson Productions, R&B casanova Maxwell has announced that he will once again team with the NBA legend for a tour that kicks off in August.

The outing will get rolling on August 8 in Houston, Texas and will continue through late of September with the singer playing multiple night stands in Oakland, Los Angeles, Chicago, Detroit, Philadelphia, Washington, New York and Atlanta.

The tour will again be promoted by Magic Johnson Productions, the organization that planned to promote Maxwell's aborted fall of '98 trek. At the time, the singer abruptly canceled the tour citing "personal reasons" (see "Maxwell Postpones Tour For Personal Reasons'").

The tour will mark the Maxwell's first in two years, and comes as his "Fortunate" enjoys its eighth week atop the "Billboard" R&B singles chart.

Fans are encouraged to head to Maxwell's official website (at www.musze.com) for ticket info and updates.
