Marvelous 3 and SR-71 plan to launch a co-headlining tour on September 7 in Chattanooga, Tennessee, an outing that M3 frontman Butch Walker says will likely be dubbed the "Too Much Rock For One Band" tour.
For Walker, the tour will give him a another chance to team up with SR-71 singer-guitarist Mitch Allen; the duo previously collaborated on "Right Now," SR-71's hit single from the band's "Now You See Inside" LP.
"I co-wrote their hit song 'Right Now,'" Walker recently explained to MTV Radio, "and a lot of people don't know that. It was one of those things where [Allen] called me up and said, 'Hey, can I co-write a song for our record with you?' And I was like, 'Sure.' So we sat down to wrote a big rock radio song, and I guess it worked." [RealVideo]
"I've known them for a couple of years," he said of Allen and SR-71. "They used to come out to the Marvelous 3 shows right when [our band] was taking off, and they got signed shortly after, back when they were called Radiostar." [RealVideo]
Walker also explained that the name of the Marvelous 3-SR-71 tour came from a non-vulgar rock and roll hand gesture that he used to throw up during past M3 concerts.
Marvelous 3 is heading out on the road to drum up support for its new album, "ReadySexGo," which is due out on Elektra Records on September 12.
