July 2 [7:55 EDT] -- The Lunachicks did their fair share for Hale House last Sunday, and got some help from No Doubt, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Marilyn Manson, and Rage Against the Machine among others.
As we reported two weeks ago, the bands pledged gear to a charity raffle, where there items were placed next to donations from the Offspring, Descendents, Sick Of It All, NOFX, Gwar, Epitaph Records, Caroline Records, and many others.
While it was initially thought that Manson would kick in an autographed prosthetic limb for the New York City event, conservative America's nightmare donated the corset that he wears in his band's new video, "Man That You Fear." Meanwhile, No Doubt forked over an autographed drumhead, the Bosstones offered a prize pack (including a CD, album, poster, T-shirt, and autographed photo), and Rage donated an autographed 10' vinyl copy of "People of the Sun."
Among the more offbeat offerings were an autographed golf club from NOFX's Fat Mike, and a shrine to the golden age of hair metal which included a gold album plaque for Britny Fox and platinum album plaques for White Lion and Stryper.
The benefit raffle was organized by the Lunachicks, whose label, New York-based indie Go-Kart Records, staged a corresponding concert at the New York club Tramps. Weston, Candy Snatchers, Black Velvet Flag, Silent Majority, Snuka, and the Lunachicks themselves were among the bands turning up for the benefit concert.
Sunday's concert and raffle raised more than $4,000 for Hale House, which is devoted to helping babies born with the HIV virus or addictions to drugs or alcohol.
