Marcy Playground, who enjoyed number-one single success with "Sex and Candy," is preparing to deliver "Shapeshifter," the follow-up to its 1997 self-titled debut.

According to band manager Chris Blake, Marcy mainstay John Wozniak and Steven Drake of the Odds just completed mixing the project in Vancouver, and the LP is currently targeted for a November 2 release date.

The twelve-song album was recorded at Vancouver's Mushroom Studios, a facility recently purchased by Wozniak, a New York resident.

According to the band's Web site, Wozniak mixed the record while drummer Dan Rieser toured Europe with his other group, The Bloomdaddies. Bassist Dylan Keefe took advantage of the down time to plan and execute his recent wedding to his long-time girlfriend.
