More than a year after losing their drummer Chris Acland to suicide, Lush has decided to disband.

Spokespeople for the band say the split was an amicable one, leaving 1996's "Lovelife" as the group's final album.

Lush guitarist Emma Anderson, who co-wrote material for the group, is currently in the studio with her new outfit, Sing-Sing, which she formed with Joely Tonna and Lisa O'Neill. Meanwhile, bassist Phillip King will soon be seen on the road playing with the Jesus and Mary Chain.

Lush came together amid the shoe-gazing scene of late-80s London, and went on to release four albums ("Gala," "Spooky," "Split" and "Lovelife") before disbanding.

The group's greatest exposure came when it landed a spot on the 1992 Lollapalooza tour placing them on a bill with Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Ministry and Ice Cube.
