Madonna was in New York City on Thursday to promote her new film, "The Next Best Thing," and she took the opportunity to drop by the set of "Saturday Night Live" and visit with Jennifer Lopez.
According to "The New York Post," Madonna met with Lopez after she finished taping an appearance on "The Rosie O'Donnell Show," which is filmed in a Manhattan sound studio located next door to the "Saturday Night Live" studio. Madonna apparently stopped by to say hello to Lopez and Lopez's manager, Benny Medina, and discussed the rumors that the two had gotten into a tiff at a New Year's Eve party hosted by fashion designer Donatella Versace. Lopez is scheduled to appear as the musical guest on this weekend's episode of "SNL," while Madonna's "The Next Best Thing" is due in theaters on March 10. The soundtrack to the film, which features a pair of new Madonna songs including her cover of Don McLean's "American Pie," will be released on February 22.-- David Basham
