If you're anxious to get your hands on the new tunes Live showed off at Woodstock '99, your patience won't be tested much longer.

Live is planning to release its fourth studio album, "The Distance to Here," on October 5. The group finished the record last week, just a few days before it headed to Woodstock for its second onstage stint with the franchise.

As frontman Ed Kowalczyk recently explained to the MTV Radio Network, the LP will show that Live has lightened up a bit since its last release, 1997's "Secret Samadhi."

"There's a happy intensity about a lot of the songs," Kowalczyk told the MTV Radio Network. "There's a song called 'Sparkle,' a song called 'They Stood Up For Love' which is like a homage to... social political leaders, guys down the street... anybody standing up for that positivity. It really has that."

Kowalczyk added, "and I think 'Secret Samadhi' was a way for us to retreat, almost, from... what Live was about. You know, the message." [RealAudio]

For "Distance," the group re-tapped producer (and former Talking Heads member) Jerry Harrison, who handled the boards for the group's first two albums, 1991's "Mental Jewelry" and 1994's "Throwing Copper" (see "Live Gets Prolific During Sessions For New Album").
