After a tour stop Wednesday night at the Hard Rock Café in Mexico City, Live is returning to the U.S. on Friday to perform at the Bronco Bowl in Dallas along with openers Cibo Matto.

The band is currently enjoying a top five single on the Modern Rock and Mainstream Rock charts with "The Dolphin's Cry," the first track off its new album, "The Distance To Here," which has sold almost 300,000 copies in its first three weeks of release, according to SoundScan.

In addition to its own record, Live is also featured on another top 50 album, as the double-disc "Woodstock '99" collection features the band's blistering version of "I Alone" from the tumultuous three-day concert.

Live is one of the few acts to be represented on both the "Woodstock '99" album as well as its predecessor, the "Woodstock '94" double record, which leads off with another "Throwing Copper" track, "Selling The Drama." (Other artists appearing on both "Woodstock '99" and "Woodstock '94" LPs are Metallica, Sheryl Crow, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers.)

In a recent interview with MTV News, Live singer Ed Kowalczyk talked about how the band went off the audience's vibe and reaction in choosing "I Alone" for inclusion on "Woodstock '99."

"We got a tape of, I think, four tracks that the [show's producers had] recorded for the 'Woodstock' album," Kowalczyk said, "and 'I Alone' just stood out as a really obvious choice. There's a breakdown in [the song] were we had, I think at that point, maybe 225,000 people chanting 'Love' sort of in this mantric, kind of Indian melody. We were listening to [the tape] in a van on the way to a show, and it was just totally moving, so we said, 'That's it.'" [RealVideo]

You can hear live Live when the group continues out on its fall North American trek, scheduled to conclude on November 21 in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania. The band has also just announced plans for a special New Year's Eve show to be held at the Hershey Park Arena in Hershey, Pennsylvania.
