At first, the beat-pop upstarts of Len were simply postponing the first few dates of their pending U.S. road trip due to a visa problem. Now the Canadian band has blown off its entire U.S. club tour, at least for the moment.
According to Len's management, the group is opting to play just a handful of radio festival dates and some key TV appearances over the next month or so. While management is still holding to the visa story, members of Len have put the blame on the band's need to regroup and rehearse after they were rushed onto the Canadian Edgefest tour as a last-minute replacement for Eve 6 (see "Len Replacing Eve 6 On Canadian Edgefest"). "We were supposed to be rehearsing, and we actually did that tour instead," bandmember Planet P revealed in a chat on AOL's Entertainment Asylum on Tuesday. "As a result, we were actually practicing our set in front of thousands of people, so when it came to doing the west coast dates, it was just too much all at once. We had to regroup and figure out what our plans were." Those plans, say management, include shooting a video for the band's second single, "Feelin' Alright," in its home base of Toronto with frontman and co-founder Marc "The Burger Pimp" Costanzo at the helm. "Alright" is the follow-up to the band's MTV hit, "Steal My Sunshine" (see "Len Thrived On Spontaneity During 'Sunshine' Shoot"). The festivals still on Len's schedule include: Philadelphia on August 3; Spokane, Washington on August 6; Seattle on August 7; Portland, Oregon on August 8; Los Angeles (KROQ) on August 20; and Boston on September 25 and 26.For more on Len, be sure to check out the MTV Online Feature, "Len: Let the Sunshine In."
