December 22 [7:55 EDT] -- In a year that seems to have spawned every manner of bizarre musical collaboration, a new CD recently released in Europe called "The Rapsody" may indeed take the cake.
Dubbed by its creators as "hip-hop meets classic," the record features artists like L.L. Cool J, Mobb Deep, Redman, and Onyx rapping to the sounds of some of history's best known operas and other classical works.
The album's first single is a collaboration between Warren G and Norwegian classical singer Sissel called "Prince Igor" which is based on the 19th Century opera of the same name by Russian composer Alexander Borodin.
Unfortunately for American fans, Def Jam has no plans for a U.S. release of the CD in the foreseeable future.
