June 30 [14:00 EDT] -- After providing the dictionary definition of "kickin' it old school" at the Tibetan Freedom Concert, KRS-One talked about how he wants to preserve classic hip-hop culture.

The rapper, who established himself with Boogie Down Productions in the late 80s, said that he is organizing a sort of old-school preservation society.

"We just opened a private school called the Temple of Hip-Hop," KRS-One explained. "We teach DJ-ing, breakin', graffiti art, MC-ing and the philosophies like hip-hop's history, the business, ya' know, this kind of thing. [600k QuickTime] And we're looking to erect several Temples around the world and so on."

While the Temple is still in the planning stages, so far the artist-formerly-known-as Lawrence "Kris" Parker is encouraged at the progress.

"The project has gone great," KRS told MTV News. "We've received a lot of support for it and it's just a good thing. I'm really proud of the school. Finally, I get a chance to build a school."

If KRS-One can get his old-school school going, he's says he has more than 2,000 potential students hoping for admission.
