Korn and Bob Dole have at least one thing in common... they both know the benefits of getting out and pressing the flesh.

Taking a cue from stumping politicians everywhere, the band will mount a whirlwind publicity tour to pump up interest in their upcoming album, "Follow The Leader." The band is planning to pull out marching bands, cheerleaders, guest celebrities, and its own jet for its Korn Kampaign '98, an amped-up version of an in-stores tour.

Starting August 17 in Los Angeles, the band will jet from city to city touching down in 14 hamlets across the U.S. and turning up in record stores to greet their fans.

In addition to bringing the noise about "Follow The Leader," the Kampaign is also designed to drum up support for Korn's inaugural Family Values tour, which kicks off in mid-September.

When the album arrives on August 18, fans will find that the tracklisting actually begins at number 13, and not at number one with a few seconds of silence filling the album's first 12 tracks. Lest fans begin wondering about the superstitious nature of the oddball numbering, the band's guitarist, James "Munky" Shaffer, explained the move saying, "No one's ever done it. It was just a wacky thing that we wanted to do.

It's not yet known if the band's exploration of new territory in increasing visibility for "Follow The Leader" will mean a farewell to more traditional forms. The band is still investigating the possibility of shooting a video for this album, and has yet to decide whether or not it will do one.
