To K-Ci & JoJo,"It's Real" isn't the same thing as "it's personal."
The follow-up to the duo's multi-platinum debut "Love Always" contains 13 new tracks including the hit single, "Tell Me It's Real." The titles of both the album and the song are in line with the songwriting ethic of JoJo, who co-wrote the track along with Rory Bennett (who also collaborated with JoJo on the Grammy Award-nominated "All My Life.") "We just write about things that go on in the world," JoJo told the MTV Radio Network, "as far as relationships, whatever, the good times, bad times, and we just put them into songs." But on the other hand, JoJo also says the two don't want to reveal too much of themselves in their songs. "We won't write necessarily about our personal lives, you know. I'm not going to put my personal life on record, not yet." JoJo and Rory produced a majority of the tracks on the album with the remaining songs coming from Rose, Ralph C. Stacy, Emanuel W. Officer, and R. Kelly, who did the track "Life" from the film of the same name.
