After breaking in his acting chops with a few TV appearances, wrestler "Stone Cold" Steve Austin is in final negotiations to try his talents on the big screen with a supporting role in a Janis Joplin biopic, titled "Joplin - The Movie."
The WWF superstar, who recently returned to the ring in April after being sidelined with an injury since November 1999, has been offered a part as a Hell's Angel opposite Laura Theodore, who will portray Joplin, according to "The Hollywood Reporter."
If Austin signs on to the project, one of several films about the late singer currently in development (see "Another Janis Joplin Biopic In The Works"), "Joplin - The Movie" would mark the feature film debut for Austin, who has made several appearances as Det. Jake Cage in the CBS series "Nash Bridges."
Directed and produced by Joel Freedman, "Joplin - The Movie" is expected to begin filming as early as this summer.
