As her current "Angel of Mine" track continues to dominate the singles charts, Grammy-nominated vocalist Monica is getting ready to head to Los Angeles for the presentation of this year's awards on February 24.
Monica is up for a pair of Grammys, both for her duet with Brandy on "The Boy Is Mine," which is nominated for "Record of the Year" and "Best R&B Performance By a Duo Or Group," but she admits to being more caught up in the competitions in certain other categories -- particularly "Best Rap Solo Performance."
Artists nominated for that Grammy include "Dangerous" from Busta Rhymes, "Gettin' Jiggy With It" by Will Smith, "Hard Knock Life" from Jay-Z, "Lost Ones" by Lauryn Hill, "Gone Till November" from Wyclef Jean -- one of the few contests in which the two Fugees square off against one another. But Monica predicts that Jay-Z will come home the big winner.
"I would Jay-Z's 'Hard Knock Life' [should probably win]," Monica told the MTV Radio Network, "for the simple fact that I have not heard a track as clever in years. To take 'Annie' and re-arrange that into something that we're listening to on stations all around the world is something that I haven't even thought of -- and I don't think many people had."
You can find out if Monica's Grammy prognostication comes true when the Grammys are announced on Wednesday night at the Shrine Auditorium.
