Looks like Michael Jackson wants to bring a little motel and money madness to the Motor City.
At a press conference yesterday in Detroit, Jackson and business partner Don Barden announced plans for a multi-million dollar entertainment complex, according to the Associated Press.
The planned resort, currently dubbed the Majestic Kingdom, would include a hotel, a casino, nightclubs and restaurants, in addition to a Michael Jackson Thriller Theme Park.
Jackson, who once recorded for the Detroit-based Motown Records as a member of the Jackson 5, said that the facility would be designed for "the childlike heart that lives inside every man and woman."
Barden and Jackson, who have traveled to Africa and the U.S. Virgin Islands in recent months to survey sites for similarly-conceived resorts (see "Michael Jackson To Gamble With Casino Resort ..."), also indicated at the press conference that the fate of the Detroit complex hinged on them successfully obtaining a casino license.
The Detroit City Council denied Barden a gambling license earlier this year, although Barden has moved to organize a referendum drive to overturn the council's decision.
