December 19 [7:55 EDT] -- On December 8, the members of INXS sat down for a television interview in Australia to discuss the November 22 death of frontman Michael Hutchence, and the tape has now reached American soil.

In the interview, guitarist Kirk Pengilly, guitarist Tim Farriss, and keyboardist Andrew Farriss talked about their initial reactions to the loss of Hutchence and their memories of him.

"He'd opened up to what had been going on in his life," Pengilly said. "Some of it was pretty jaw-dropping stuff, you know, but he still always seemed to have strength with it all."

"I can't be angry at Michael," Tim Farriss added. "If he did take his own life, then I feel he was sick." [500k QuickTime]

Andrew Farriss recalled the moment he learned of Hutchence's death, saying, and I think the why, like anyone that I've lost that was close to me in my life isn't tremendously important, it's the loss of the person that's actually important."

Tim Farriss took time to thank fans who have supported the band through their loss saying, "I would like to say to all the people who've written so many wonderful and kind and beautiful little stories and tributes, you've made Michael very proud and it touches the soul very deeply and on behalf of him, we thank you."

The coroner's report on Michael Hutchence has been delayed until February 6, which seems like an awfully long time, but INXS' U.S. publicist says, "There's nothing black and white about this case."

The band's manager, Martha Trowp, said that the reports about auditioning new singers are completely false.

"Right now the band and I are grieving for Michael, and that would be the absolutely last thing we'd be doing," Trowp said.
