December 29 [14:00 EDT] -- Michael Hutchence has left most of his $12.5 million (Australian) fortune to Greenpeace and Friends of the Earth according to Australian music industry columnist Christine Eliezer, reporting on a down under TV interview with Hutchence's father Kelland, and brother Rhett Hutchence.

Eliezer's InMusic column says that the remainder of the late singer's estate is willed to daughter Heavenly Haraani Tiger Lily and that little if any provisions were made for Paula Yates.

Hutchence owned property in various locations including London, Hong Kong and the South of France. Eliezer cited an INXS spokesperson as saying that Hutchence had less than expected accumulated wealth because he had quietly given away much of it to various charities over the years. His favorite targets, said the spokesperson, were those pertaining to sick and underprivileged children.

Media reports in the British tabs earlier this month said that Yates was selling her story to a magazine for a large sum of money in order to finance a possible legal battle over Hutchence's estate, thought to be $20 million (Australian) at the time.
