As previously reported (see "Rage Guitarist To Team With Indigo Girls" in the MTV News Gallery), Morello has remixed "Shed My Skin," a track from the latest Indigo Girls album "Shaming of the Sun."
As Morello explained, he shares some similar political sentiments with the Girls, which first came to light on Rage's "Radio Free L.A." show last year when the Indigos called in to support Mexico's Zapatista rebels.
"They used to come to the shows in Atlanta at a time when I was having a lot of difficulty lining up bands for the "Radio Free L.A." show," Morello told MTV News. "They volunteered to participate, and I thought that was really cool and I think from an ideological stand point we're kind of on the same footing, so I was happy to do it. And it gave me the opportunity to play drums and bass and guitar on a track and human beatbox on a track which was really interesting."
No word yet on when or how Morello's Indigo Girls remix will be released.
Meanwhile the Indigos play Seattle's Paramount Theater Friday night, the same night Tom Morello will be featured on the new MTV News show, "MTV News 1515," in a segment called "Blowhard." In the segment, Morello waxes philosophic about the importance of the International House Of Pancakes.
