Hum has canceled several weeks worth of upcoming tour dates in June and July after the group was involved in a car accident in Canada over the weekend.

The band, who scored a minor hit a few years back with "Stars," is on the road in support of its most recent release, "Downward is Heavenward." ["Green To Me," 900k QuickTime]

Hum was traveling from Winnepeg, Manitoba to Calgary, Alberta on Sunday when its van was struck by another car, which in turn sent the band's vehicle crashing into a lightpole.

No one was seriously injured in the wreck, and Hum fully intends to play two of its previously scheduled dates: a radio show in Boston on June 21, and a high-profile opening gig for the Smashing Pumpkins in Milwaukee on July 5.

Hum had planned to take August off prior to the accident in order to provide vocalist/guitarist Matt Talbot sufficient time for his wedding, and the band says it will most likely wait until after the ceremony to resume its tour.
