To warm up for her opening slot on U2's 2001 tour, PJ Harvey will play a string of December headlining shows, kicking off Friday at the Phoenix in Toronto.
The British singer has lined up nine dates for the trek, which is scheduled to wrap in Atlanta on December 14.
Harvey is out in support of her critically praised fifth album, Stories From the City, Stories From the Sea. The disc, which follows up 1998's intricately crafted Is This Desire?, signals a return to the more aggressive rock approach of her early work. Its first single, the ardent "Good Fortune," is among several songs on the album inspired by her six-month stay in New York last year.
Harvey played unannounced shows in Los Angeles and New York in October, performing mostly songs from Stories.
