It's been three years since Isaac, Taylor, and Zac Hanson MMMBopped their way onto the charts as cute little boys, and judging by the looks and sounds of the trio now, the onset of puberty is a powerful thing.

The guys drop several vocal octaves and raise their rock and roll profile with their new album "This Time Around," due out May 9.

For their second studio effort, the brothers avoided the boy band rut, recruiting H.O.R.D.E. Tour-style musicians such as John Popper of Blues Traveler and blues guitarist Jonny Lang.

"The guy is an amazing guitarist. There's nothing you can say," Isaac told MTV News' John Norris this week of Lang.

"He's a better musician than all of us," Taylor added. "He puts us to shame."

"He puts us all to shame," Isaac echoed.

The brothers Hanson also noted that they're trying to land Lang again for the video for "This Time Around," the first single from the new album. The group will shoot the video for the track this weekend with director David Meyers, who has also helmed clips for Jay-Z, Kid Rock, Master P, Filter, Powerman 5000, Static-X, and others.

The single should start hitting radio on March 6.

It's been almost three years since Hanson-mania broke loose with the release of "Middle Of Nowhere" and its suddenly inescapable single, "MMMBop." Some holiday-themed releases and a live album followed, but the band didn't return to the studio to work on a proper follow-up to its breakthrough hit until last summer.
