While Green Day is keeping mum about an altercation between bassist Mike Dirnt and Third Eye Blind bassist Arion Salazar on the advice of their lawyers, Third Eye Blind has been publicly apologetic about the matter.

As we first reported on Monday (see He's a very tough individual so I'm sure he will."

Jenkins' statements echo a written statement issued by the Third Eye Blind camp late Monday in which Salazar said, "My heart goes out to him and I hope he recovers quickly. We have many friends in common and I just hope that he can accept my sincerest apology. I am sorry Mike."

The incident resulted in a trip to the hospital and a prompt release for Dirnt and the cancellation of a Sunday night show in Sacramento for Green Day.

The band is next scheduled to play some Canadian dates this weekend, while Third Eye Blind is set to launch a tour on Thursday in Binghamton, New York.
